"Boy and His Horse"
24" x 30" acrylic on canvas
by Gina Feddersen
This painting was inspired by a day on St. Thomas where my husband and I had just kayaked back to shore from a beachcombing adventure and we saw this young boy on his horse galloping along the beach. Was the perfect ending to the day.
"Dominoes at the Dairies"
by Gina Feddersen
24" x 30" acrylic on canvas
Inspired by my son's favorite ice cream stop on the island. St. Thomas Dairies. Every afternoon when we drive by on our way home we see the same group of men at the same table enjoying a fun afternoon game of dominoes. A local favorite pasttime. One afternoon I pulled in and asked if I could take a photo of their hands playing the game and they graciously obliged. Was such a fun painting to render. I should have called it "Earl" as I painted it the night the hurricane hit and we were all boarded up inside safe and sound.
"Found Urchins"
by Gina Feddersen
8" x 10" acrylic and canvas
I have an addiction. I confess! I am addicted to collecting any beautiful fragment that washes up along the shore. They always serve for great subjects in my paintings. These particular sea urchins were found in Sanibel Island, Florida. They now fill a glass bowl in my home. Happy memories of me and my sister spending a quiet day on vacation together.
"Glass Bottle and Starfish"
by Gina Feddersen
11" x 14" acrylic on canvas
I found an old bottle here in my favorite antique shop on St. Thomas and had this white starfish that I propped up on my sill to paint. One of my favorites.
"Starfish"
by Gina Feddersen
acrylic on canvas 11" x 14"
More starfish. I love to paint them. Have a few more coming in a few days. This is a very vibrant one where I mixed lot's of turquoise and bright blues together for the background. My inspiration was the sky and sea of course.
