Wood Postcards -The New 2012 Collection

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope it is off to a beautiful start. I am busy in my art loft creating and updating the collection. Out with some of the old and time to reinterpret my favorite prints onto new surfaces.

In between orders for isola bella I am creating new ceramic works which I hope to launch in the upcoming months. More to come on that subject very soon.

The wood postcard collection launched today. Measures 6" x 5" x 1/8" thickness. These are perfect to frame or display and of course to send. Makes a unique invitation for any  seaside event. The back is left blank to add your message. The wood is smooth and left unfinished. Made in the USA and hand-printed with earth-friendly water based paints. Custom colors are available upon request for your event. You can shop the stationery collection at isola bella.

Ceramic Art by Gina Feddersen

It is always such a nerve-racking feeling opening the kiln after a glaze fire. You never know what you will get. It is always a surprise. Today there were some broken pieces and some pieces that were stuck to my kiln shelf but many others that survived. I was happy. I am urchin obsessed and coral obsessed. Many pieces are wheel thrown and then I add sculptural handbuilt elements to the pieces and others are completely handbuilt. These are fired to cone 5 and created with stoneware clay.

I love this grouping of 3 urchin styles.
Together they form a unified look.
The spiky urchin has a glossy white glaze. It was wheelthrown and then I added spikey tendrils. The center urchin has a matte antique turquoise glaze finish. (My favorite). Wheel thrown and sculpted spikes added in the leather hard stage. The third urchin to the right is a hand built urchin stained and clear glazed.

The top left vessel is perfect for a large candle. It was inspired by the aqua blue water of the caribbean and barnacle shells I often find along the beaches here. The top right trio of handbuilt vases feature coral reliefs. I love to make molds from the textures that I find on my beachcombing travels. These feature various glazes. The starfish vase is wheel thrown and then I added the starfish element in the leather hard stage. It has a beautiful green glaze that is very soft and earthy. The trio of vases on the bottom right are all wheel thrown and glazed in white.Inquiries are welcome. I am a beginner potter so these are a little imperfect but I really like a little bit of imperfection. Makes it truly special and the effects are one-of-a-kind.

The Wine Accessories Collection

The New Wine Stopper & Corkscrew Collection has arrived!
I am so happy with the quality and finish.
Cast in pewter with a rhodium finish.
A beautiful gift for anyone.
They are exact replicas of fragments I found here in the Caribbean. Nature translated into a functional art.

The coral branch corkscrew
A special token for a bride and groom or host/hostess.
