Isola Bella Sets Sail

AHOY! I Received an email today from a friend who went boating recently. She recognized an isola bella linen table runner onboard and snapped this pic. I love how the hostess with the mostess made a casual setting so effortlessly chic pairing the table runner with conch shells, pillars and adorable sand dollar tablecloth weights ( which I am now on the hunt for and will let you know when I find them).

My desk was busy and messy today. I created fabulous reusable cotton canvas gift totes which come in a variety of sizes. This is a sneek peek as they will be posted to the website this week. A great eco-alternative to standard wrapping paper.

Flowers and the Sea

It was a glorious morning on St. Thomas today. I started my day with a long walk to the beach and then spent time enjoying the shapes and colors of the flowers in my garden. Below are some pics of heliconia's, bougainvilleas, hibiscus, desert roses and the sea. The beauty all around me on a daily basis often stops me in my tracks. I like how life moves slowly here giving me time to think and dream.

Q & A with designer Terri Lindelow

When do you feel the most inspired to create and what inspires you?
"I feel most inspired when my mind is clear, allowing space for ideas to come to me. I’ll be walking or riding my bike and I’ll get a picture of a completed piece in my mind which I have to quickly sketch as soon as I am able or I’ll lose the vision. Other times I’ll just sit with my sketchbook and play to see what comes."

What are you working on today?
"Today I’m working on clusters pendants. It’s a gloomy day and I’m trying to brighten things up by working with turquoise, aventurine and rose quartz."

How has having lived in the Caribbean influenced your work? I know you live on Lake Geneva, WI now so water seems to follow you…
"Funny you should ask this question….although my work isn’t heavily influenced by the Caribbean, I believe it’s because of living in St. Thomas that I pursued an artistic outlet."

Many years ago while working in the fast-paced world of sales for a luxury resort on the island of St. Thomas, Terri’s friend talked her into joining a ceramics class for fun. This class became her first introduction of learning to create something with her hands.

This journey continued with metals classes over 6 years ago and hasn't stopped since. Bidding adieu to the corporate world Terri devotes her days to her passion for jewelry design with a studio she opened in Wisconsin. Aside from her jewelry designing she also continues to hone her skills in the arts having enrolled in glass fusing classes where her goal is to create functional pieces for the home as well.

Artist Charlene Landry - Painting the Spirit

orange mandala - by charlene landry. photo courtesy of artist: copyrighted.

A few months ago I did a feature on a fabulous painter from California. Charlene Landry has now launched her gallery online. You can view her paintings at http://www.charlenelandryart.com/. Charlene Landry's hypnotic mandala series, which she creates on wood was inspired by her interest in color therapy to heal the inner spirit as well as memories of looking through her favorite toy as a child the kaleidoscope.

Her work has brought joy into my home. Each morning as I walk past the beautiful orange mandala hanging by my art workspace it is a quiet reflection to me of a day bringing new possibilities, creativity and endless joy.
