Q & A with designer Terri Lindelow
When do you feel the most inspired to create and what inspires you?
"I feel most inspired when my mind is clear, allowing space for ideas to come to me. I’ll be walking or riding my bike and I’ll get a picture of a completed piece in my mind which I have to quickly sketch as soon as I am able or I’ll lose the vision. Other times I’ll just sit with my sketchbook and play to see what comes."
What are you working on today?
"Today I’m working on clusters pendants. It’s a gloomy day and I’m trying to brighten things up by working with turquoise, aventurine and rose quartz."
How has having lived in the Caribbean influenced your work? I know you live on Lake Geneva, WI now so water seems to follow you…
"Funny you should ask this question….although my work isn’t heavily influenced by the Caribbean, I believe it’s because of living in St. Thomas that I pursued an artistic outlet."
Many years ago while working in the fast-paced world of sales for a luxury resort on the island of St. Thomas, Terri’s friend talked her into joining a ceramics class for fun. This class became her first introduction of learning to create something with her hands.
This journey continued with metals classes over 6 years ago and hasn't stopped since. Bidding adieu to the corporate world Terri devotes her days to her passion for jewelry design with a studio she opened in Wisconsin. Aside from her jewelry designing she also continues to hone her skills in the arts having enrolled in glass fusing classes where her goal is to create functional pieces for the home as well.
