Ocean Girl Jewelry Collection

sea fan coral, fresh water rose pearls, sterling silver wire on silk cord.
Necklace $32.~   Coral Bracelet Waves $ 30.~

I Just bought these at  OCEAN GIRL COLLECTION. Made from recycled dried sea fans found washed up on the beach. Organic and sculptural! Handformed by the artist and gorgeous!

Elke, is an amazing artist and designer whose jewelry I am hooked on! She has a vast grouping of collections calling out the mermaid in you ranging from modern woman, goddess, ocean woman and natural woman as well as a bridal collection which is her latest project. I decided immediately I was a little  " Modern Woman"  and a little "Ocean Woman."

Another one I couldn't resist buying. Just so beautiful and delicate.
Pale blue found seaglass and pearl on sterling silver chain. Some of the seaglass she uses is extremely rare and dates back to 50 years ago. I love that what is old is new again.
Blue Water Fall Necklace~ $40.

"Only Caribbean ocean found sea glass, shells, and coral are used"
~ Elke
Creating what she lives, her work is influenced by her love for the sea and the islands that brought her into this world. She grew up in Trinidad, West Indies. After 26 years of living the island life decided to venture off island to begin art school studies. Her hiatus from her island home was well worth it as she met the love of her life, got married after college graduation and a few years later had a baby. She considers herself a sculptor and artist more than a jewelry designer as she also works with clay and paints on bamboo, driftwood and local gourds called "higueras" creating island art.

thorny clam shell sculpture by artist Elke ~ $350.

Her earrings, necklaces and bracelets all read like sculptures as she shapes and intertwines her found objects from the sea such as coral, sea fans, and seaglass along with exotic beads and pearls, transforming them into wearable art. Elke's work is sold in swanky shops near the surfing shores of Rincon, Puerto Rico to the British Virgin Islands and through her online store.

"My jewelry is specifically designed to enhance the Feminist, the Warrior, the Romantic and the Spiritual Goddess that lives in each woman." ~Elke

New designs for the bridal collection

As I am a HUGE fan I am sure I will be bragging about all the beautiful things I buy from Elke again soon. Uh-oh bank account.

St. Thomas joins the Haiti Relief Effort

I have teamed up with a wonderful group of people on island to help in the relief effort for Haiti. Today was our first day of collections at Senator Donastorgs headquarters. The turnout despite terrible stormy weather was successful. The effort will continue all week. My heart was so happy and full today. A reminder of how good it feels to give and how we all can do our part. My son who is 5 years old volunteered as well and donated to the Red Cross with money he has been saving for many months in his piggy bank. No age is limited in giving. Today was proof of that.

Haiti on my mind

It has been a very sad week. We are all trying to wrap our heads around the terrible tragedy that has transpired. Here on St. Thomas there have been many efforts underway in the past few days getting planes to Port Au Prince with much needed supplies. On Sunday I am helping to organize a collection here on island in hopes we can get more medical supplies as well as necessary hygiene items, baby items and useful things for shelters like tarps and tents etc... Every bit helps and everyone's efforts count. It is hard to do business as usual isn't it? I know I am in constant reflection since Wednesday morning on how blessed my life is and how much I take foregranted each day. Embrace every moment and make every moment count! This is my message to you my friends.

To our island neighbors
Haiti we keep you in our hearts and prayers!

Green Day

Created palm leaf gift totes today for a clients wedding. I love the new design so much I am adding it to the website. Green was the hue of the day it seemed. My husband picked this coconut from our tree in the front yard while I was snapping pics. Yummy!
